Gabler, Sankey Announce State Grants for Cambria, Clearfield, Elk County Fire and Ambulance Companies
2/5/2015
CLEARFIELD – Fire and ambulance organizations from throughout the 73rd and 75th Legislative districts are among the recipients of funding derived from the 2014-15 Pennsylvania Fire Company and Ambulance Service Grant Program, according to state Reps. Matt Gabler (R-Clearfield/Elk) and Tommy Sankey (R-Cambria/Clearfield).

“The 75th District has a great history when it comes to emergency responders, “Gabler said. “We owe the men and women who work for these groups a debt of gratitude for the services they provide.”

The funding comes from an ongoing grant program created by the Legislature and administered by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and Office of the State Fire Commissioner. All grants are generated from slot machine gaming proceeds, and not general fund tax revenue.

“These volunteers are on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and in many cases also holding down full-time jobs,” added Sankey. “They are often called from their families during important occasions. We need to also thank and keep in mind the parents, spouses and children of our emergency responders who also sacrifice for the good of all of us.”

Projects eligible for funding include construction or renovation of a fire or ambulance company facility, purchase or repair of equipment, training or reduction of existing debt.
