HARRISBURG- Legislation that would bring Pennsylvania into compliance with the REAL ID Act of 2005 while offering citizens a choice of forms of identification was passed unanimously Monday by the House State Government Committee, which includes state Reps. Matt Gabler (R-Clearfield/Elk) and Tommy Sankey (R-Clearfield/Cambria). The bill may now be taken up by the full House.

CLEARFIELD – Legislation authored by state Rep. Tommy Sankey (R-Clearfield/Cambria) that allows sale of the vacant property that formerly housed the District 2 PennDOT office on Route 322 in Lawrence Township has been sent to Gov. Tom Wolf. House Bill 2014 was passed unanimously today by the state Senate, having already been passed unanimously by the state House.

HASTINGS - State Rep. Tommy Sankey (R-Cambria/Clearfield) is pleased to announce funding has been secured to support the Hastings Municipal Authority’s plan to make major improvements to the borough’s public swimming pool. The $100,000 grant has been secured through the Commonwealth Financing Authority’s (CFAs) Greenways, Trails and Recreation program, one of seven programs funded through Marcellus Shale Act 13 revenue.

HARRISBURG - State Reps. Matt Gabler (R-Clearfield/Elk) and Tommy Sankey (R-Clearfield/Cambria) voted Tuesday with a bipartisan majority in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives to pass legislation that will reform the state’s public sector pension plans for future state and school district employees in the Commonwealth. Senate Bill 1071, which passed the House by a vote of 136-59, would create a stacked-hybrid pension plan for future employees while preserving the current defined benefit system for current retirees and current employees, who will see no change in their benefits.

HARRISBURG – State Reps. Matt Gabler (R-Clearfield/Elk) and Tommy Sankey (Clearfield/Cambria) today joined the majority of their colleagues in the House and Senate in passing legislation that will require use of a more equitable school funding formula rather than Gov. Tom Wolf’s plan that heavily favored the School District of Philadelphia. House Bill 1589, which also restores construction reimbursement funding schools are owed through PlanCon (the Planning and Construction Workbook), passed each chamber of the General Assembly by a two-thirds majority, thus preventing a veto by the governor.

Tom Wolf to sign key budget-related legislation into law for the 2015-16 fiscal year. Today, the State House approved and sent to the governor’s desk House Bill 1801, House Bill 1327 and a series of state-related university appropriation bills, which would restore the Dec. 29 cuts made by the governor to the currently enacted budget.
