HARRISBURG – State Rep. Tommy Sankey (R-Clearfield/Cambria) joined the majority of his House colleagues Wednesday in supporting House Bill 2121, the general appropriations portion of the state budget for the upcoming 2018-19 fiscal year. The legislation may now be considered by the Senate.

HARRISBURG – Gov. Tom Wolf today proposed a more than $33 billion dollar budget for the 2018-19 fiscal year during his address to the General Assembly. The governor’s plan includes a $1.19 billion increase in spending and is dependent on approval of a natural gas severance tax.

HARRISBURG - The state House today passed Senate Bill 3, legislation that would make significant changes to Pennsylvania’s Abortion Control Act. The legislation, which passed by a vote of 121-70, now sits with Gov. Tom Wolf.

HARRISBURG – The House Finance Committee today advanced legislation that would impose a severance tax on natural gas drillers in Pennsylvania. House Bill 1401, which passed by a 16-9 margin, was amended in committee to impose an incremental market-based tax while keeping in place the existing impact fee. The original legislation would have imposed a 3.2 percent tax.

DUBOIS – State Reps. Matt Gabler (R-Clearfield/Elk), Tommy Sankey (R-Clearfield/Cambria) and Cris Dush (R-Jefferson/Indiana) are co-hosting officials from the Pennsylvania Game Commission (PGC) in two public meetings designed to discuss and answer questions about chronic wasting disease (CWD).

HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Game Commission (PGC) today held a news conference to further detail its response to the recent news of a free-ranging whitetail deer in Bell Township, Clearfield County, testing positive for chronic wasting disease (CWD). The buck was shot last month by a wildlife conservation officer on state game lands after it demonstrated signs of being diseased.

The legislation calls for $31.996 billion in spending - more than half a billion dollars less than originally proposed by Gov. Tom Wolf - and does not include tax increases.

HARRISBURG- Legislation that would bring Pennsylvania into compliance with the REAL ID Act of 2005 while offering citizens a choice of forms of identification was passed unanimously Monday by the House State Government Committee, which includes state Reps. Matt Gabler (R-Clearfield/Elk) and Tommy Sankey (R-Clearfield/Cambria). The bill may now be taken up by the full House.

CLEARFIELD – Legislation authored by state Rep. Tommy Sankey (R-Clearfield/Cambria) that allows sale of the vacant property that formerly housed the District 2 PennDOT office on Route 322 in Lawrence Township has been sent to Gov. Tom Wolf. House Bill 2014 was passed unanimously today by the state Senate, having already been passed unanimously by the state House.
