HASTINGS – State Rep. Tommy Sankey (R-Cambria/Clearfield) is teaming with Sen. Wayne Langerholc Jr. (R-Cambria/Clearfield/Bedford) and officials from Hastings Borough to host a Safe Neighborhood Awareness Event on Saturday, Jan. 19, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Hastings Memorial Building, 280 Beaver St.

“It’s easy to associate crimes that infringe on our personal space and safety with larger population centers, and that is the wrong attitude to have,” said Sankey. “While we shouldn’t live in fear, an awareness of our surroundings and having a plan in place for emergency situations are both smart things to do. Our speakers will address what to look for and be aware of to keep us from falling prey to individuals whose intent is to do us harm.”

Scheduled to speak at the event are Sen. Langerholc, Cambria County Sheriff Bob Kolar, and representatives from the Pennsylvania State Police and Gittings Protective Security in Ebensburg. Locals chiefs of police from Carrolltown, Hastings and Northern Cambria will also be available to answer questions on personal security.

Admission is free and there is no need to register for this event. For more information, please call Sankey’s district office at (814) 247-6210.
